How to care for your BMF cutlery.

Your 18/10 chrom-nickel steel flatware will keep its fine appearance and will last for years if you follow our advice in looking after it.
When using a dishwasher it is important to know how to avoid watermarks and tarnishing.

1.Always follow the manufacturers recommendations concering the correct quantity of detergent to be used and refill the regenerating
salt according to the instructions.

2.Flatware and knives should be rinsed as soon as possible after use and not left dirty for hours.

3.Flatware should be placed in the dishwasher "handels down". There is no need to separate the knives, forks and spoons, but do
ensure that the cutlery is packed in loosely tenable the jets of water to reach each piece so that left-overs are properly removed.

4.Never mix cutlery from 18/10 chrom-nickel steel with genuine
silver or silver plated cutlery, and under no circumstances mix these with chrome steel cutlery in one basket. Different metals in connec tion (contact) with detergents can lead to chemical reactions. Table cutlery made of stainless chromesteel cannot be considered as dishwasher-safe.

As knife-blades are manufactured from a different steel alloy to the rest of flatware, particular care should be given to them. Should spots appear on the blades resulting from contact with pickels or food acid, they will usually disapear if rubbed well with a dish-cloth. Bluish discolourations can be removed easily with lemonjuice. Don´t forget to rinse them off afterwards in clear water. Cloud-like spots on the blades should be wiped away with a mild cleaning powder. Doing this once is generally sufficient tp prevent a reoccurence.

5.Although you may clean silver plated flatware in the dishwasher, washing (cleaning) by hand is preferable in order to avoid streaks
and scratches arising from machine washing. Genuine silver and silver plated flatware which is not used daily will disclolour quickly. Therefore, it would be advisable to spend a little extra and invest in a tarnish-proof cloth lining for your flatware chest. This is available from cutlery dealers.
